This Little Piggy Went to the Foot Surgery Center

Post Surgery (the same day)

Two weeks post (stitches out...eek, still purple and swollen)

Get well basket with get well water from Joni (I love you Sister Wife)

So I have been out of the blogging loop due to my being out of town and then my recent foot surgery which has taken me out of the swing of things for about 2 weeks. About a year ago I started to notice some problems with my right big toe. After seeing two podiatrists, I discovered that I had a bone spur growing on my toe joint impeding its ability to go into full extension. Those of you who know me well, know that my toe would get inflamed and swollen after heavy exercise and after wearing high heels. Not being able to give up those two things, I opted to have surgery to correct the bone spur. On August 20, during my vacation mind you, I went in (by myself due to no ride sniff sniff) and had that bone spur lopped off. My surgeon was great as was the anesthiologist who gave me some nice sleeping medication through my IV. I ended up waking up as they were putting the stitches in. My parents were nice enough to pick me up and take care of my every need afterwards for the 2 weeks I was at home recuperating. The first two days were quite painful. I was unable to weightbear on my foot, having to use crutches to get around. It hurt just to stand up due to the blood rushing to my foot. To top it all off I caught a bad cough and cold making it extra painful to heal. I'm hoping that my foot will go back to normal and I can get back to my exercise that I miss so much. It is tough not working out at all.

I wanted to thank a few people for helping me through my surgery (sorry this sounds like an Academy awards speech). My parents for being super wonderful: getting me water, filling up my ice pack, feeding me, and basically tending to my every need. I would not have been able to have that surgery without them. I also wanted to thank Joni and Evan for visiting me the next day to cheer me up with a get well basket and for picking me up a week later, driving me to their house, and hanging out with me. Extra thanks to little Evan for telling me he loves me, which always brings a smile to my heart and face. Thanks to Marsha for visiting me and bringing me greasy fast food (burger and zucchini fries) from Galaxy Burger. She really knows what to bring to ease the pain. Gary, thanks for visiting me in all your busy-ness and even on your birthday. Onelia, thanks for visiting me and driving me to Guppy House and sharing the Guppy Special. For all of you who don't know, that is a small shaved ice (which is actually ginormous), a brick toast, and popcorn chicken. Yeah, I don't know how we ate that between the two of us...but it was awesome. Thanks to all of you who called me to check up on me (Jennifer, Ann, Sarah, Dean, my sisters). The hard times are the times when your true friends are there for you and I appreciate all of you for that. Lastly, I want to thank my Anthony for calling me and making me smile like no one else can.
